Sant’Agata has been described as “a balcony over Lake Maggiore” by the famous painter Luigi Piffero who lived and died in this small village, leaving behind numerous paintings and restoration works.

From the town square, the view of the lake is magnificent and we will also have time and opportunity to enjoy an aperitif sitting in the belvedere.

Our itinerary starts from Cannobio and follows the river for a stretch until it reaches the slopes of Monte Giove; from there we climb through a beautiful birch forest until we reach the picturesque village of Sant’Agata where we will stop for a brief visit to the church and the village.

The itinerary will then continue on the other side of the mountain where, through a slightly steep path, we will arrive at Traffiume and we will be able to admire the famous Orrido di Sant’Anna and its interesting geological formations.
